I have been searching for animations of cell biology recently (because my brother is interested in animation and has been learning Blender and the lab I work in is interested in animating some of the biology we study). Some of my findings have huge potential as educational tools. Thinking back over my education, I wish I had seen more of these and had less lecturing.
Wide Web Instructional Committee has links to Virtual Cell (though this link may be useful if you just want the animations) and Geology Explorer, which I have not looked at because I'm not a geologist. I am a biologist to some degree.
Molecular Movies is a collection of biology animations, mostly very high quality.
Wehi-TV animations contains the beautiful and educational animations of Drew Berry and Etsuko Uno. Excellent.
Last, Hybrid Medical Animation, is a company that makes medical-related animations, so it may not be as useful for general education. I wanted to add it here because they certainly exemplify the stunning beauty and power that can be conveyed through animation.
